Art on the Bricks Coming to Downtown Rogers Nov. 9

Monthly Art Walk to Feature Local Artists in Downtown Businesses

Downtown Rogers will introduce the first-ever Art on the Bricks Thursday, Nov. 9, with galleries opening at 4:30 p.m. and remaining open until 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. Art on the Bricks consists of a monthly Art Walk that will occur on the second Thursday of each month.

More than 20 Downtown Rogers businesses will host guest artists and showcase the work of artists and musicians from across Northwest Arkansas at the event. The public is invited to shop, view and purchase art, and eat or drink at local establishments. Participating businesses are located on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Streets as well as Walnut Street and Elm Street.

Kathy McClure of Gateway Mortgage is among those leading the effort to get the community involved in the event. The mortgage company recently leased office space in the 200 block of West Walnut in a historic brick building that, for more than three decades, was home to Oftedahl Photography. “Generations of families have grown accustomed to a storefront that served as a showcase for photography, documenting important times in people’s lives including graduations, family reunions, weddings and births,” commented McClure. “It seemed only natural to continue to display art in this space.”

“Art enhances our community,” McClure said. “It makes us humane. Whether watching a show at Arkansas Public Theatre, learning and living history at the Rogers Historical Museum or the Daisy Museum, or immersing oneself into the visual arts at any number of downtown destinations, art makes us better.”

“My goal is to build upon an already vibrant arts district with a dedicated visual arts event,” she said. “The Art on the Bricks Art Walk not only allows downtown to show off amazing visual and performing arts, it connects us to our local eateries, watering holes, and old friends. It's the perfect recipe for downtown Rogers.”

This new event is presented by downtown business owners in cooperation with Go Downtown Rogers, Arkansas Public Theatre, Main Street Rogers, Rogers Experimental House, Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Rogers.

Artists and businesses who wish to become a part of the event may find details and applications to participate at or contact Karen at the Rogers Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce at 479-619-3195.
